Future Development Plan

Level One:

My future development plan begins with completing my current course Level 3 Cambridge Technical Extended Diploma in Performing Arts with a grade D*D*D*. I will continue to participate in performance events both inside and outside of my Cambridge Technical course to enhance and develop my physical skills, versatility, and confidence.

I will complete work experience this summer in the Edinburgh Fringe with Captivate Theatre to gain experience and knowledge about working in the industry, alongside taking part in Captivate Theatre’s summer school each July to prepare myself for the intensive and full-on nature of the performance industry, as well as to establish a good network of connections in the industry and meet like-minded people. I will continue attending WEMT school in London every Sunday and partake in singing, acting, ballet, contemporary, and jazz classes as well as beginning the tap classes to allow me to increase my versatility as a dancer.

I will keep up to date with upcoming events, research organisations and explore my options, as well as watching performances - such as musicals, dance shows, and concerts – to gain inspiration and motivation.

I will continue to post videos on social media, such as singing, performing, and self-tapes, to allow me to gain publicity and get used to putting myself out there. I have taken part in many shows such as playing Eponine in Les Mis, and Catherine Parr in SIX, so over this next year I aspire to play more roles which will give me confidence and experience in the spotlight.

I will continue cleaning, tutoring and waitressing at the Swan Pub in Worlingworth. This will allow me to gain skills which will make me employable in the performing arts industry – such as organisation, communication, time management, adaptability, resilience, independence, and reliability. I will also look after my body and maintain good levels of fitness, specifically targeting my stamina and strength. I will ensure I prioritise a healthy lifestyle so I can be ready for the industry.

Level Two:

I plan to complete my pre-professional training, gaining BA (Hons) in Musical Theatre Performance at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance. I have chosen this institution because it is known for its excellent facilities, and its urban location (London) grants me access to a wider range of art and theatre opportunities. It has a stellar reputation for producing industry-ready, versatile, and well-established performers. Also, due to its “positive, highly supportive learning environment” which encourages its students to put themselves out there, I feel my confidence and motivation will be enhanced. There is statistical evidence to support its “world leading” recognition, for example it is ranked 26th for performing arts globally, and 9thon the arts, music, and drama league table 2024. Moreover, 96% of graduates continue working successfully in the industry and have incredible progression routes, as some alumni went on to perform in professional shows such as Wicked, Fiddler on the Roof, and The Lion King – with one graduate starting that they “grew a lot artistically and met some amazing people” during their time at Trinity Laban. Upon graduation, students gain membership to the equity union for £24 per year, which further provides them with advice, support, and representation.

Alternatively, I plan to complete my pre-professional training, gaining BA (Hons) in Musical Theatre and Dance at Performers College in Birmingham. I have chosen this institution due to its excellent reputation for providing students with “diverse and intensive” training, facilitating them with the subject-specific skills and knowledge to graduate as an industry-ready professional. Evidence of past alumni proves excellent graduate success rates and progression routes, with past graduates going on to perform in West End shows such as The Sound of Music, A Chorus Line, Wicked, Hairspray, and Mamma Mia. Anecdotal evidence from Alumni portrays a positive and supportive environment, with one graduate describing the institution as “one big extended family” who provided them with excellent “support and encouragement”, and another saying that “choosing Performers College was one of the best decisions (they) have ever made.”
